Step 2: Prepare Your Gear.

Primary Camera: Choose a DSLR or mirrorless camera suitable for low-light conditions, such as the Canon EOS R6 or Sony A7 IV.
Backup Camera: Bring a secondary camera to avoid interruptions if your main device malfunctions.
Lenses: Pack a wide-angle lens (for group shots and venue), a telephoto lens (for candid moments from afar), and a fast prime lens (for low-light portraits).
Lighting Equipment: Include external flashes, diffusers, and portable LED lights for unpredictable lighting scenarios.
Extras: Stock up on charged batteries, high-capacity memory cards, and lens cleaning kits.

Step 3: Conduct a Pre-Event Venue Visit

If possible, visit the venue beforehand. This allows you to:

Scout photogenic spots and determine good angles for important moments.
Assess natural and artificial lighting conditions.
Check the space layout for any potential challenges, like narrow spaces or reflective surfaces.

Step 6: Arrive Early

Arriving ahead of time ensures you’re set up before guests arrive.
Use this time to:

Take shots of the venue decor and setup.
Test your equipment settings in the actual lighting conditions.
Address last-minute details with the client or event team.

Step 7: Stay Flexible and Observant

Events can be unpredictable. Adapt quickly to changes and always keep an eye out for spontaneous, memorable moments. Balancing professionalism with a calm demeanour ensures a positive client experience.

Step 8: Backup Your Photos Immediately

After the event, transfer images to an external hard drive or cloud storage to safeguard your work. Make sure all files are backed up before editing.
